About UNC Wrestling

UNC Club Wrestling is an open, student-run organization for anyone interested in the sport — beginners, returning athletes, and competitive wrestlers. Our mission is to create a supportive environment where students can develop technique, build strength, and enjoy the folkstyle wrestling community at UNC.

What Happens at Practices

Live Wrestling

Short controlled live sessions letting members test skills, build timing, and improve mat awareness.

Technical Drilling

We focus on fundamentals: takedowns, escapes, top control, positioning, and transitions.

Situational Work

Short rounds starting from specific positions to sharpen decision-making and build good habits.

Conditioning (Optional)

Light conditioning rounds to build strength and endurance — scaled for all experience levels.

Who Can Join

The club is open to all UNC students — no tryouts, no prior experience needed. Members should bring athletic clothes, water, and a willingness to learn. Wrestling shoes are helpful but not required. We aim to maintain a productive and respectful training environment. Everyone trains at their own pace.
